Start Tutoring
Once you have decided that you want to start tutoring, here is a checklist of things you need to do:
1) Identify which subject you will tutor
2) Decide how you will tutor: privately, online, for a College or University, or for a learning center
3) Apply to your chosen agency for being hired as a tutor
4) If you choose privately, you will need to advertise to get your first students
5) Start tutoring
Here is a list of characteristics that you should have to be a good tutor:
1) Patience
2) Listening ear
3) Good work habits
4) Punctuality
5) Skill in your subject area
6) Desire to help others
When you first start tutoring, you may want to choose 1 or 2 subjects to specialize in as a tutor. Once you have established yourself as a tutor, you can branch out into other areas where you have the skills. Here are some ideas to get you started:
1) Math tutor
2) Physics tutor
3) Chemistry tutor
4) Science tutor
5) English tutor
6) Reading tutor
7) Writing tutor
Sports such as golf swing, volleyball, basketball, etc. These would, of course, be tutored in person
9) Crafts such as quilting, chocolate making, etc. These would also be tutored in person
